Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Introduction
Chrono is a productivity and calendar management application developed by Atlas Labs. Chrono helps you organize your tasks, manage your schedule, and plan your time more effectively with the help of intelligent features.
This Privacy Policy describes how Atlas Labs ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Chrono application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using Chrono, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve the Service:
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign up through a third-party provider (such as Google or Apple), we receive your name and email address from that provider.
Task and Calendar Data
We store the tasks, events, schedules, and related content you create within Chrono. If you connect external calendar services, we sync event data between Chrono and those services.
Usage Data
We count your daily AI Planner usage (messages and suggestions) to apply fair-use limits, and we keep an audit log of account actions such as logins and deletions. We do not collect analytics on feature interaction patterns, session duration, or navigation behavior, and we use no analytics or advertising SDKs.
Device Information
We do not collect your device type, operating system, browser type, or screen resolution. The only device-derived value we store is your timezone identifier (for example, Europe/Amsterdam), so your tasks and reminders are scheduled correctly.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide the Service: To operate Chrono, manage your account, and deliver the features you use, including task management, scheduling, and notifications.
- Calendar Synchronization: To sync your events and tasks with connected calendar services such as Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook, enabling a unified view of your schedule.
- AI Planning Features: When you use Chrono's AI-powered planning tools, relevant task and schedule data is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate personalized suggestions. This data is not used to train AI models and is retained by the provider only briefly under its standard API data-retention policy. Some AI-generated insights, such as your Weekly Review, are cached within Chrono so they display consistently across your devices.
- Improve the Service: To diagnose technical issues and develop new features that enhance productivity.
- Communications: To send you important account-related notifications, security alerts, and occasional product updates. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
Legal bases (GDPR). We process your data to perform our contract with you (operating your account and the features you use, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), to pursue our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure and preventing abuse (rate limiting, audit logging, error monitoring, Art. 6(1)(f)), and with your consent for optional integrations such as connecting an external calendar (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time by disconnecting the integration.
4. Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it:
- Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS protocols.
- Secure Infrastructure: Your data is stored on secure, reputable cloud infrastructure providers with robust physical and network security controls.
- Password Protection: Passwords are never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard hashing algorithms (bcrypt) to securely store your credentials.
- Access Controls: Access to user data is strictly limited to authorized personnel who require it for service operations and support.
International transfers. Our hosting and service providers (including our database, compute, AI, payment, email, and error-monitoring providers) are located in or operate infrastructure in the United States. Where personal data of EU/EEA users is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the providers' Data Processing Agreements incorporating the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The full list is on our sub-processors page.
5. Third-Party Services
Chrono integrates with the following third-party services to deliver its features. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:
- Google Calendar API: Used to sync events between Chrono and your Google Calendar. We access only the calendar data you authorize.
- Microsoft Graph API: Used to sync events with Microsoft Outlook calendars when you connect your Microsoft account.
- Stripe: Used to process subscription payments securely. We do not store your full credit card details; payment information is handled directly by Stripe.
- Anthropic: Used to power Chrono's AI planning and suggestion features. Task and schedule context is sent to Anthropic's API to generate intelligent recommendations. Data sent to Anthropic is not used to train their models.
- Apple: Processes Sign in with Apple authentication and App Store subscription payments. We never see your payment details.
- Resend: Delivers transactional email such as verification and password-reset messages (recipient address and name only — no marketing).
- Sentry: Server-side error monitoring. When a server error occurs, the error report can include request metadata and an account identifier so we can fix the problem. There is no error-tracking SDK in the app itself.
- GitHub: When you submit a feature request or bug report on the Feedback board, its title and description — and, for bug reports, the app version and device/browser info shown on the form — are copied into Chrono's private issue tracker on GitHub so we can triage and fix it. The tracker is not public and mirrored issues contain no account identifier (your name and email are never included). If you delete your feedback in Chrono, the mirrored issue's content is removed and the issue is closed.
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time.
- Correction: You can update or correct your account information directly within Chrono's settings, or contact us for assistance.
- Deletion: You can request the deletion of your personal data. We will process your request in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Data Export: You can export your tasks, events, and other data from Chrono in a portable format at any time.
- Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your Chrono account from the account settings page. This action removes all associated data from our systems immediately.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@getchrono.app.
7. Cookies
Chrono uses minimal cookies strictly necessary for the operation of the Service. Specifically, we use:
- Authentication Session Cookies: Used to keep you signed in and maintain your session. These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.
- Theme Preference: A local storage entry to remember your light or dark mode preference.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at the address associated with your account and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data. Your continued use of Chrono after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
9. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, "CCPA/CPRA") gives you specific rights regarding your personal information. This section supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy and applies only to California residents.
Categories of personal information we collect
In the last twelve months we have collected the following CCPA categories: identifiers (name, email, device timezone), internet or network activity (app usage events, audit log entries), commercial information (subscription status, transaction identifiers), and user-generated content (tasks, goals, calendar events). We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA; any such information is only inferred from free-text you choose to enter.
Sources and purposes
We collect this information directly from you when you use the Service and from the third-party providers you choose to connect (Google, Microsoft, Apple). We use it to operate and secure the Service, process payments, respond to your requests, and meet legal obligations — the same purposes described elsewhere in this Policy.
No sale or sharing of personal information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months and we do not intend to.
Your rights
- Right to know: request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to delete: request deletion of personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: not applicable because we do not sell or share your information.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: not applicable because we do not use sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to provide the Service you requested.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the rights above.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@getchrono.app. We will acknowledge receipt within 10 business days and substantively respond within 45 calendar days, with up to a 45-day extension where required. You may also authorise an agent to act on your behalf; we will verify both your identity and the agent's authority before acting.
